"There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better." John Ruskin (1819-1900)

The translator's invisibility

I see translation as the attempt to produce a text so transparent that it does not seem to be translated. A good translation is like a pane of glass. You only notice that it's there when there are little imperfections - scratches, bubbles. Ideally, there shouldn't be any. It should never call attention to itself.
(Norman Shapiro)

This significant statement summarizes the essence of translation, which isn't a simple transliteration of a text from the source language into the target language, but much more. Behind a translation there are several hours of terminological research, in-depth analysis of the subject matter and last but not least stylistic analysis. The final product is a text which sounds like the original and not the translated one. A translator should always be invisible.

Words In Motion is your invisible translator, a reliable and responsible partner for all your German, English or French legal and economic texts which need to be translated into Italian. High quality, precision, confidentiality and extreme punctuality are the keys of a strong relationship between translators and their customers and they are also my strong points.
